2026 National Recovery Month Annual Light Up the Night for Recovery

8/25/26 – Mental health and substance use challenges affect individuals, families, and communities across the nation. Each September, National Recovery Month celebrates the strength and resilience of people in recovery while promoting the message that recovery is possible for everyone.

The Oneida County Substance Use Coalition and community partners invite the public to attend the Annual Light Up the Night for Recovery. The event is a free community event dedicated to celebrating recovery, reducing stigma, honoring lives affected by substance use and mental health challenges, and connecting individuals with local resources and support.

“Recovery looks different for everyone, but no one should have to walk the journey alone,” said Jenny Chiamulera, Community Health Specialist with the Oneida County Health Department. “Light Up the Night for Recovery brings our community together to celebrate hope, share stories, and remind people that support is available.”

Research continues to show that connection, community support, and access to treatment and recovery services play a critical role in helping individuals achieve and maintain recovery. Events like Light Up the Night provide opportunities to build understanding, reduce stigma, and strengthen local support networks.

Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend this family-friendly evening featuring:

  • Community Resource Fair
  • Guest Speakers and Personal Recovery Stories
  • Family-Friendly Games and Activities
  • Free Food and Refreshments
  • Free Raffles and Giveaways
  • Opportunities to Connect with Local Recovery and Support Services
