Public Health Emergency Preparedness

The Oneida County Health Department works with community partners to assure Oneida County is prepared for and able to respond to events that pose substantial risk to the health of its citizens.

Disaster can strike at any time and can come in many shapes and sizes. It is important to prevent loss of health and life, and promote quick recovery from events and disasters that interrupt day-to-day life. It is for these reasons that OCHD works tirelessly with hospitals and clinics, emergency management, emergency medical services, and the whole community to be ready for if and when a disaster strikes. OCHD encourages its community to prepare for emergencies.

Every family should:

  1. Have a kit
  2. Have a plan
  3. Be informed
